Video: What’s new in Firefox 3.6

The Mozilla Foundation will release version 3.6 of Firefox on Thursday. The alternative Web browser, which is used by about 25% of Web users, will be available to download after 8.30pm SA time.

The update to the browser includes:

  • Changes to how third-party software integrates with Firefox in order to prevent crashes
  • The ability to run scripts asynchronously to speed up page load times
  • Personas, allowing users to change the look and feel of the browser
  • Alerts about out of date plug-ins
  • Improved JavaScript performance

In this video, Mike Beltzner, director of Firefox development, gives an overview of what’s new in Firefox 3.6.

    This release is also available in Afrikaans. Translate.org.za is busy working towards having Northern Sotho available as an official version quite soon.
