I have a 4 Meg ADSL from Telkom and, without doing anything different than I have done the last few years, am all of a sudden using up my 4 Gig cap within 10 days.

With Helkom’s reasoning a new 8 Meg line will mean that I use up my cap within 5 days and the actual data being downloaded will be irrelevant.

It’s about time! Telkom and TelkomSA/TelkomInternet will LOSE customers if they do not do this, and do this immediately. We are sick and tired of snail-paced internet access, 384kbps is hardly acceptable in 2009, and will be antediluvial if not Jurassic by year end. 384kbps needs bumped up to 1024kbps at the same price as 384kbps. Bandwidth needs to be reduced to R29/GB immediately.

They’re definitely testing 8Mbps at the moment.
I’m on the SAIX noticeboard mailing list. I received a few SAIX notices on 16 Nov stating that: “Software – Implementation of the 8 Meg trial. All current 4Meg custormers on the 4 Meg sync profile will be upgraded to the 8Meg sync profile.” These notices were specifically for the Pretoria area.

No one needs a 8mb line when there is a 4gb cap.
