TechCentral logoTechCentral, SA’s source of quality technology news and analysis, is pleased to introduce a new section to the website this week focused on the country’s technology start-ups.

In spite of the huge challenges facing SA’s start-up community — lack of funding sources, government and regulatory red tape, and expensive Internet connections — the country has produced a range of innovative new tech businesses in recent years.

TechCentral’s purpose in launching the new section is to profile what these start-up entrepreneurs are doing and to highlight some of the interesting technology ideas coming out of SA. We’ll ask them to talk about the challenges they’ve faced in getting their businesses off the ground and ask them to share their unique insights.

We’ll publish our first profile later this week — keep an eye out for an interview with Obami’s Barbara Mallinson, who has developed a fascinating online social networking platform for schools. We will profile a new entrepreneur and start-up every fortnight thereafter.

Do you have an interesting tech start-up? Are you doing something out of the ordinary? Why not drop TechCentral’s editor a line and tell us about what you’re doing? If you are interested in advertising in this section, please also e-mail us .
