TechCentral’s ICT Newsmakers of the Year (part 1)

SA’s technology industry grabbed more public attention in 2009 than it has in years. In spite of the recession, the news flow has been constant, and not all of it has been bad. Undoubtedly, the biggest story of the year on the business front was Telkom’s sale and unbundling of its 50% stake in cellular [...]

MTN letter raises more questions than answers

Has a secret, back-room deal been reached between mobile operators and government over interconnection fees? All signs are pointing to a deal that stonewalls the Independent Communications Authority of SA (Icasa) and allows Vodacom, MTN and Cell C to maintain interconnection rates — the fees the mobile operators charge each other and other network providers [...]

Cellular operators agree to cut interconnection rates

Interconnection rates are coming down. SA’s three mobile operators, MTN, Vodacom and Cell C, have agreed to cut the peak rate they charge other operators to carry calls on their networks by 36c, from R1,25/minute to 89c/minute. ECN CEO John Holdsworth says the company is considering selling a majority stake to the right foreign partner. He confirms [...]

James Herbst, CEO of Huge Group, a big player in SA’s LCR industry, says the impact of a reduction in interconnection fees charged by mobile [...]

Why TechCentral?

We know that as a prospective advertiser, you are spoilt for choice. Our job is to demonstrate why TechCentral delivers the best return for your advertising spend.

TechCentral is South Africa’s online technology news leader. We don’t say that lightly. We believe we produce the country’s best and most insightful online tech news aimed at industry professionals and those interested in the fast-changing world of technology.

We provide news, reviews and comment, without fear or favour, that is of direct relevance to our fast-expanding audience. Proportionately, we provide the largest local audience of all technology-focused online publishers.

We do not constantly regurgitate press releases to draw in search engine traffic — we believe websites that do so are doing their readers and advertisers a disservice. TechCentral, which is edited and written by award-winning South African journalists, cares about delivering top-quality content to draw in the business and consumer readers that are of most interest to technology advertisers.

We’d like the opportunity to demonstrate the value of directing a portion of your advertising budget to TechCentral, whether your company is in the technology field or not.
