The Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance (Outa) will appeal against a court ruling that thwarted its bid to have e-tolls in Gauteng scrapped, it said on Monday evening. “We will be appealing the e-toll judgment,” chairman Wayne Duvenage said.

On 13 December, the high court in Pretoria dismissed an application by Outa to have the electronic tolling of Gauteng’s major roads scrapped.

The court ordered Outa to pay the legal costs of the application. Outa also intended appealing this order.

Outa’s founding members are the SA Vehicle Renting and Leasing Association, the SA Tourism Service Association, Retail Motor Industries of SA, the Quadpara Association of SA, and the SA National Consumers Union.

The appeal had to be lodged with the court by 9 January.  — Sapa

I sincerely hope that they (OUTA) are better prepared this time around and have done their homework thoroughly . This system will not work in a developing country as there are no alternatives.

I really believe that there was something rotten in the whole setup and we, the ordinary person, was kept nicely in the dark mushroom management on the part of SANRAL and the authorities

Unfortunately for us, the government can afford the best lawyers with our money and Outa has to scratch around for donations, depending in what seems like a second rate legal team :(
Civil disobedience is the only way outa this mess for the public.

Nice Guys finish second and that’s what will happen here I’m sorry to say.

The ANC has invested too much of the Usual Suspect’s greed in this scam and it WILL go ahead even if they have to call on the Almighty himself to ram this down Gauteng’s throat.

To stop it finally? Simple, just do not purchase that Big Brother e-Tag, this entire pirate ship sinks or sails on their being able to make it viable courtesy of modern technology.
To issue invoices by post will simply be too difficult and non profitable.
Stay tagless fellow Gautengers and defeat them with paper work.
