DStv-640

Pay-television operator MultiChoice has launched a new DStv channel bouquet called the “Family” pack, which will be launched on 9 April at R175/month.

DStv Family will consist of more than 45 channels, 17 of which have not been on the company’s cheaper bouquets previously. These include a range of general entertainment, documentary and childrens’ channels such as Sony Entertainment, Discovery TLC, Nat Geo Wild, KykNet Musiek and Cartoon Network, it says in a statement.

In addition, on 9 April, two new channels will be added to the DStv platform — Fox and KykNet & Kie. Fox will be available to DStv Premium customers, while KykNet & Kie will be available to DStv Family, Compact and Premium customers, MultiChoice says.

Foxwill be available in both high-definition and standard-definition as simulcast on channel 125. This 24-hour channel will feature series such as Falling Skies, The Walking Dead, The Transporter — the TV series, Being Mandela, The Simpsons, House of Payne and Cougar Town.

KykNet & Kie is an expansion of KykNet’s existing offering on DStv and will make Afrikaans content available to DStv customers in the lower-tier packs namely DStv Family and DStv Compact.  — (c) 2013 NewsCentral Media

Still waiting for a Scifi channel. Happy to have a rehashed and repackaged channel as long as it carries scifi content.

Congratulations to Multichoice on doing market research, finding out what parents want, then excluding the most popular Kids channel, CBeeBees.

How about brining back M-Net only channel, like the good old days. You can charge R175 just for that!

While others are trying to push through an “adults only” pack, the smart guys counter with a new “aptly named” family pack. Nice one DStv!!

Does such a channel exist? I would enjoy that as well.

A new bouquet? I thought you meant one without 60% of the on screen time being devoted solely to ads telling us to watch DSTV which we are doing in any case!
    Praise the Lord for books.

I want a Live bouquet. Live content only – Sport, News. Keep your canned content, there are way better sources for anything not real time.
